The FPD Police Cutter Vigilant (PC 012) is part of the Federation Police Directorate's initiative to bring law and order to the wild frontier of the newly colonised F'asa Sector of the Delta Quadrant. The Vigilant is a newly commissioned, adapted saber class vessel. The class is highly modular, making adaptation to specific purposes, extremely easy. In addition, the modules can be easily constructed in smaller shipyards for construction later. This makes repair, and production of additional ships, possible even in outer regions like the delta quadrant.

The Vigilant was commissioned in 2371 and had only one commanding officer, Captain Marah O'Shea, until her destruction in 2376.

The FPD Cutter Vigilant served from 2371 until her destruction, circa 2376. She primarily supports New Terra and the distant outposts and interacts little with the Starfleet vessels that defend and explore the region.
