Hopefully you, as a visitor to this site who is perhaps unfamiliar with the 'Delta Fleet', have found the information enclosed within these pages useful. These pages are intended to be a resource to give you an insight into the history of the Delta Fleet writing group. But, let's step out of character for a moment to give you an insight into the real-life history behind one of the longest running fan-fiction groups on the Internet!

The Delta Fleet Started in 1996 with the creation of the sim: Deep Space Delta, which was run by Admiral Brad of the Star Trek Sim Group (SSG). Mark Kingsnorth followed his lead with a sister sim, the USS Hunter, whose first post went over the list in April 1997. Sadly, the Deep Space Delta Sim didn't make it through the first 12 months, however the USS Hunter sim, under the command of Mark, then Ian Dickson and then our very own Anders Lundgren thrived and became the backbone of what would become the Delta Quadrant Fleet.

The USS Wraith was the first new addition to the fleet at the beginning of 1997, quickly followed by the USS Shadow - the brainchild of Dave Lennox. There were some initial problems and sadly, Dave was unable to continue as the sim's GM and CO. His XO, Commander Lincoln Pell (Adam Strasberg) took over but had little experience and the sim died on it's feet after only six months. The USS Hunter and USS Wraith continued to be successful, however, and in March 1998 the Shadow sim restarted.

From then on, the sim and the fleet went from strength to strength. The Fleet hit it's peak in 2000 when there were 7 active sims - the USS Hunter, USS Shadow, USS Amon-Re, ODSD II, USS Wraith, USS Paladin and USS Guardian - at a time when SSG, our parent group, was struggling to keep only two others active.

Unfortunately, this peak could not continue indefinately. Kat Middleton took the USS Shadow group independant from SSG in 2000, citing personal reasons and in mid 2001 the GMs and members of the ODS Delta II, USS Hunter and USS Amon-Re sims succeeded from SSG, forming the 'Delta Fleet' group. SSG closed down shortly after, unable to sustain itself without the Delta Fleet sims and members.

Over the last decade (almost) we've set some real records. Not only is the USS Phantom (previously named USS Shadow) the longest running on the internet at an amazing eight years to date, this sim has also run the longest mission: From start to finish, 'Spectre of Doom' ran for 1 year and 2 months!

I am confident that the Delta Fleet counts among its ranks some of the best amateur writers out there. Together, the writers and the characters that have been created, have made this group the greatest, longest running, and most historic on the Internet.

This site and the many stories that have been spawned by the sims of this group stand as a tribute to all those that have helped to make it what it is:
