FPD Vigilant

Thursday, February 17th, 2011

The FPD Police Cutter Vigilant (PC 012) is part of the Federation Police Directorate’s initiative to bring law and order to the wild frontier of the newly colonised F’asa Sector of the Delta Quadrant. The Vigilant is a newly commissioned, adapted saber class vessel. The class is highly modular, making adaptation to specific purposes, extremely easy. In addition, the modules can be easily constructed in smaller shipyards for construction later. This makes repair, and production of additional ships, possible even in outer regions like the delta quadrant.

The Vigilant was commissioned in 2371 and had only one commanding officer, Captain Marah O’Shea, until her destruction in 2376.

The FPD Cutter Vigilant served from 2371 until her destruction, circa 2376. She primarily supports New Terra and the distant outposts and interacts little with the Starfleet vessels that defend and explore the region.

USASC Victory

Thursday, February 17th, 2011

From a parallel universe in which the United Earth Movement never occurred, the Victory Class Battle Ship was born. The United States Army Space Corps vessel Victory (USASC Victory) was the first of the class to be completed and launched and ushered in a new era of warp propulsion for the Earth nations and Vulcan Allied Federation of Planets.

The original USASC Victory, along with her sister ships, the USASC Robert E Lee and USASC Ulysses S Grant, was sadly lost within 6 months of entering service. Replacement vessels of the same name were completed within a year, along with a further two vessels, the USASC Majesty and the USASC Majestic. However, in an attempt to save an enemy ship from a spatial rift in 2377, the Victory, Lee and Grant were once again lost. The Grant and Lee were completely destoryed, while the Victory was pulled into our universe.

The ship is commanded by Wing Commander Jesse Munroe, her only previous commander being Brigadier General Richard Anderson who died when the ship traversed the spatial rift.

The USASC Victory was drawn into the Delta Quadrant of our universe in an attempt to save a Romulan vessel from a spatial rift in their own universe. With no way to return home without being destoryed, the Victory continues to aid the fleet.

USS Shadow

Thursday, February 17th, 2011

The USS Shadow is a captured Romulan Deresus class scout ship. Larger than the standard scout, the Deresus class strikes an excellent balance between nimble maneuverability and heavy weaponry. In addition to enchanced weaponry, the Deresus class also has a small shuttlebay capable of housing two shuttles. The ship, unlike it’s predecessors, also has long-term medical facilities and a Holographic Physician based on stolen Federation Technology.

The Shadow was captured during a covert intelligence gathering mission by the crew of the USS Hunter. Her original Romulan name being the K’korrivor, loosely translated as Heaven’s End. Her crew, not at that time knowing the translation of the name felt Shadow to be appropriate.

Until her last commanding officer, Captain Reena Harras, the USS Shadow had an unfortunate start to her service with Starfleet. Her first Captain, Alexander Stone, perished in a transporter accident shortly after taking command. Her second Captain, Commander Lincoln Pell, died in an attack by Ssoran mercenaries, again shortly after taking command.

The USS Shadow was captured by Starfleet in 2374 by the crew of the USS Hunter. She was involved in the liberation of New Terra after the SSoran war and was involved in the Falcarian War, during which she undertook a mission to steal an experimental Slipstream-capable ship from the Romulan fleet in the quadrant. The Aehallh Class vessel (USS Phantom) was successfully captured, but at the cost of the USS Shadow. The ship was destroyed late in 2377.

USS Pioneer

Thursday, February 17th, 2011

The Sovereign Class USS Pioneer (NCC 1982-E) was commissioned in 2377. In a move away from the luxurious cruise-liner style exploratory vessels similar to the Galaxy Class, Starfleet created the Soveriegn Class with greater military capability to prepare for the increasing threat of galactic war. While the first of the class, the USS Sovereign, wasn’t launched until 2371, the ship had infact been in development since the late 2330′s. It is generally consider to be Starfleet’s most sophisticated and comprehensively armed vessel.

The USS Pioneer is the seventh in a long line of historic starfleet vessels baring the name. The ships are named for the spirit of exploration that Starfleet exemplifies and continue a long tradition of naval vessels of the same name.

The USS Pioneer has had two commanding officers since her launch in 2377, her current Captain being James a Sullivan.

The Pioneer is the only sovereign class in the fleet and as such, the largest. Many consider her presence in the Delta Fleet to be a consolation from Starfleet HQ, who have, as yet, been unable to provide further resources or reopen the Deltan Wormhole.

USS Pathfinder

Thursday, February 17th, 2011

In 2419, the last class of Starfleet ships was born with the comissioning of the USS Pathfinder (NX 62342). In an era when the Federation has been challenged by every major power, the Pathfinder class was designed to be the last defence. Highly maneuverable, the ship is equipped with unique shielding, weaponry and propulsion systems. In addition, the ships are the first to have A.I. The highly advanced computer core is a sentiant brain, with complex sensory inputs.

Named for the first Mars exploration programme, the USS Pathfinder is the first ship to bare the name. She has had only one commander, Captain Maou Chang-Kai.

The USS Pathfinder arrived in the Delta Quadrant from the future. In a time when Starfleet and the Federation has fallen to it enemies, the Pathfinder’s crew chose to ignore the temporal prime directive and travelled over a quarter of a century back in time in an attempt to prevent the course of history as they know it. However, instead of arriving at sector 001, they became trapped in the Delta Quadrant. Her crew has now pledged to help the Fleet until such time as she can return to Earth.

The Pathfinder is cataloged as an artificial intelligence. With an advanced Heuristic Interface Matrix, the ship can be interacted with in the same was any crew member. In theory, the ship is capable of self-command in the event that the crew is incapacitated, although this has never been proven. The ship also has regenerative torpedo stock, ablative armour, F.S.A.A sensor array, which facilitates tracking of even the smallest particles within a 150 light year radius. Despite the ship’s heavy armament, it is also comfortable with additional recreational facilities.

USS Montana

Thursday, February 17th, 2011

The USS Montana (NCC 76702), named for the American state, is the first ship to bare the name. On two previous ocassions in Earth’s history, naval ships to be named Montana have been started but neither have seen completion or been comissioned. The USS Montana has had a total of three commanders, all from the same family. Her first Captain, Jean-Pierre Actuallier, died while commanding a fleet in the Gamma Quadrant at the end of the Dominion War. Her second Captain, Louise Actuallier, died when the ship was drawn into the Deltan Wormhole. Her current commander is Captain Zar Hranok, promoted from Executive Officer in 2380.

The Steamrunner class, like so many ships built and designed since Wolf 359, was created to supplement the Fleet’s much larger Galaxy and Sovereign Class vessel. Smaller, more maneuverable and less costly to build and maintain than the larger ships, the Steamrunner is fast becoming one of the main-stays of Starfleet.

The Montana arrived in the Delta Quadrant in 2376 as the result of an experiment to re-open the Delta Wormhole. Several ships were destroyed in the attempt and the Montana herself sustained significant damage. She remained in drydock at ODSDelta II for several months before being declared spaceworthy. Since then, she has become a key member of the fleet.

A smaller cross section makes the Montana more difficult to target in battle. In addition, the Montana is also equipped with a ‘Ghosting Array’ which uses the deflector dish to create spatial ripples, which fool enemy sensors, making a weapons lock near impossible. The array uses vast amounts of energy however, and a great deal of tachyon radiation is a by product of the process.

USS Hunter (Classic Era)

Thursday, February 17th, 2011

A Daedalus class starship, the USS Hunter (NCC 177) was comissioned in 2163. The class was the first to be comissioned for the newly established Starfleet, consisting of races from Earth, Vulcan, Andor, Tellar and Alpha Centauri. The ground-breaking ships would pave the way for future exploration aboard the wide-varying classes of starship in operation in the 24th century.

The first to bare the name, Hunter, the ship is currently commanded by Captain Huke Williams.

The Hunter – 177, was exploring space long before the Deltan Wormhole was discovered and as such, as little connection to the Fleet. However, she bares the name of the flagship and does have a few connections to the quadrant in her missions.

USS Hunter

Thursday, February 17th, 2011

The Highlander Class USS Hunter (NCC 79105) was commissioned in 2373. After falling by the wayside in favour of the Galaxy and Sovereign class ship designs, the Highlander class became increasingly vital as older, less advanced ships were destroyed or decommissioned. After numerous teething problems, the Highlander class was finally brought to fruition in 2371 with the launch of the USS Highlander (NX-79101)

Named Hunter, this is the second starship to bear the name. The Daedalus class USS Hunter (NCC 177) was destroyed in 2176. The incident remains classified

The latest Hunter has had 4 captains since she was commissioned. She is currently the Delta Fleet flagship and is commanded by Captain Amathus Bre’Nazari following the promotion of her previous commanding officer, Katherine fforbes, to the Admiralty. The ship was briefly commanded by Commander Conner Talin. Her first Captain was Thomas Halloway, who slipped into a vegetative state during the fleet’s encounter with the mysterious ‘Entity’.

The USS Hunter has been the fleet’s flagship since it’s assignment to the Delta Quadrant in 2373. The ship sustained heavy damage in 2373 during the encounter with the entity, but survived, unlike many of it’s counterparts, and was quickly repaired. The ship has since been involved in the liberation of New Terra, following the Ssoran war, and continues to be a key vessel in the Falcarian war. Originally, the ship was a fully active sim and a member of the Starfleet Sim Group (SSG). The sim was pulled from the group in 2001 and was used as an NPC ship for a long time before being restarted as an active sim in 2004.

Apart from the highly unstable Tertrenon torpedoes, the Hunter is equipped with a few other advance technological features of note. The ship is one of the few with a Shield Demodulation Pulse, which can decipher the shield frequency of enemy ships, rendering them useless against the Hunter’s armaments. The Pulse emitter can burn-out with excessive use, and Sheild Demodulation can be prevented by simply remodulating the shields. The Hunter has also been retrofitted with a cloaking device in the Delta Quadrant.

USS Duguay-Trouin

Thursday, February 17th, 2011

The Miranda Class, USS Duguay-Trouin (NCC 31758) was commissioned in late 2269: one of the last ships in it’s class to be commissioned. Designed to be a smaller and less capable counterpart to the Constitution class, the class entered service one year before its larger cousin. There was a very high degree of commonality between the two classes, with the nacelles and most of the primary hull being almost identical.

Named for Rene Duguay-Trouin, a french privateer and naval officer from Earth’s 17th century. His bravery, the respect he won from his men, and his successes against the English and the Dutch in the wars of King Louis XIV caused him to rise rapidly in command. As a reward for his services Duguay-Trouin was ennobled by Louis XIV in 1709 and commissioned a lieutenant general in 1728.

In the hundred and ten years that the Duguay-Trouin has been in service, she has been captained by a number of Starfleet officers. Her most recent Captain was Nadia Yashina.

The USS Duguay-Trouin as a final assignment before decommissioning, was sent to serve as a support vessel to the Federation colony of New Terra in the Delta Quadrant. The ship was in service and took heavy damage in the battle of New Terra during the Falcarian War. Her crew were evacuated and she was towed to the new Federation base at Tortuga. She is currently awaiting salvaged parts for repair and refit, however due to limited resources, the fleet may never gather the neccessary parts to ressurect the aging starship.

USS Bonhomme Richard

Thursday, February 17th, 2011

The Miranda Class USS Bonhomme Richard (NCC 31876) was assigned to the F’asa Sector in 2371 as part of the initial exploratory deployment in the Delta Quadrant. On stardate 50492.2, contact with the starship was lost and the vessel was officially listed as ‘Missing, Presumed Destroyed’. However the ship had survived an encounter with Mrrshan pirates and, with a heavily damaged communications array, had been unable to contact Starfleet. The ship later became part of the Delta Fleet along with the USS Hunter and Dauntless however in 2373, the ship discovered a jointly operated Ssoran-Romulan base and contact was once again lost.

Nothing further was known of the Bonhomme’s fate until 2375 when the USS Shadow encountered the Bonhomme’s Chief of Operations in a Ssoran equivalent of a runabout. He stated that he had escaped from a Ssoran penal colony, however further searches found no other survivors, or indeed the prison itself. In 2376 the ship was found derelict by the USS Pioneer. The ship was returned to active service but was later destoryed in defence of ODS Delta II.

The USS Bonhomme Richard is named for the American warship commanded by John Paul Jones, which defeated HMS Serapis in 1779 but as a result of the battle, eventually sank. Another navy vessel by the same name was an aircraft carrier during the Second World War. At the turn of the 21st century, the name was given to a multi-purpose amphibious assault ship was engaged in the ‘War against Terrorism’ of that time.

USS Bonhomme Richard had been commanded by several captains including: Commodore Stephen Monroe, Captain Li Zhou (CO when it went missing in 2373) and Captain Ahmed Rashed (last CO).

USS Bellerophon

Thursday, February 17th, 2011

The Interpid Class, USS Bellerophon (NCC 74705) was commissioned in 2378. The class signalled a break with Starfleet’s then usual ship-building policy of larger, more powerful ships. In order to correct the trend of falling numbers of smaller ships, as the older classes were decommissioned, the more compact Intrepid Class was created.

Bellerophon was named for the hero of Greek Mythology, who through his skill as an archer, and his courage, slew the Chimaera. His arrogance and pride led to his downfall however, when he attempted to ride the Pegasus to the gods of Mount Olympus. Zeus sent the gadfly to sting pegasus and throw Bellerophon. He survived the fall but was crippled and died alone.

The USS Bellerophon is currently commanded by Captain James Vincent and was previously commanded by Captain M’Rixx of Cait.

The USS Bellerophon is commanded by Captain James Vincent, and many of the former crew of the USS Amon-Re were transferred to the Bellerophon once the Amon-Re was decommission. The Bellerophon is based in the Alpha Quadrant.

SS Atlantis

Thursday, February 17th, 2011

The SS Atlantis was commissiond in 2151 under the command of Captain Gillian Austin. Atlantis was one of a series of new Warp 5 capable ships, with the latest armour, weapons and transporter technology. For the first time, the NX Class put humanity within reach of thousands of star systems, compared to the mere handful that could be reached at lower speeds.

The SS Atlantis was named for the legendary lost earth civilisation of Atlantis which featured in Plato’s writings. Many people believe the tale to be fiction, while others believe that the story was inspired by catastrophic events. Still others maintain that the story is an accurate representation of a long lost and almost completely forgotten land

The SS Atlantis is the first ship to bare the name.

The Atlantis is set 220 years before the Delta Fleet and yet, remains entwined with our adventures in it’s contact with the Narnians and her crew. Prince David Millard is a distant relative of Lieutenant Eric Millard, Chief Helm Officer of the USS Phantom, and James Whittaker is great great grandfather to Lieutenant Joy Whittaker of the USS Montana.

The Atlantis is also equipped with two shuttlepods, each of which can carry a pilot and up to six passengers. The ship does not have energy shields, but instead uses a polarised hull plating which hardens the ship’s external hull. The deflector to the front of the ship creates a weak energy field which clears space ahead of the ship of intersteller particles which could damage the hull.

USS Amon-Re A

Thursday, February 17th, 2011

The Nebula Class USS Amon-Re (NCC 42831-A) was commissioned in 2378 to replace the aging Excelsior class of the same name. In honor of her predecessor, this Amon-Re retained the previous Starfleet registry number with the added Alpha designation rather than a completely new registry. This was not widely practiced (First instituted with the USS Enterprise-A in 2286) but the exploits of Captain Starheavens and crew seemed to require such action. Though this Amon-Re has the Alpha designation, it is in fact the third starship to bear the name but only the second to carry the registry number NCC 42831.

The Nebula class first came into service in the early 2360′s, augmenting the slightly larger Galaxy class. It maintains the same primary hull (saucer) as the Galaxy but its secondary hull is more compact and without the distinctive ‘neck’. Its warp nacelles are also different as they hang down rather than being angled up. A unique feature of this class is the ‘mission pod’ attached to the aft of the dorsal hull. One version is enhanced sensors of which this Amon-Re has.

The Amon-Re is named after the ancient Egyptian god of sun (also known as Amon, Ammon, Amun, Amon-Ra and Ra) for whom the greatest temple ever built was constructed at al-karnak.

USS Amon-Re

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

The USS Amon-Re (NCC 42831) was commissioned in 2342 as part of the last wave of the Excelsior class, which was first constructed in 2285 as the ‘Great Experiment’ in Transwarp drive. This engineering wonder failed but the class made its mark, replacing the Constitution class as Starfleet’s principal vessels.

The Amon-Re is named after the ancient Egyptian god of sun (also known as Amon, Ammon, Amun, Amon-Ra and Ra) for whom the greatest temple ever built was constructed at al-karnak. The Amon-Re is the second starship to bear the name. The Miranda class USS Amon-Re (NCC 1849) was destroyed in Orion space in 2268 under the command of rogue Captain Anna Doreloni.

The latest Amon-Re had 5 captains in more than thirty years of service. Her last captain, Sword Starheavens took command from Captain Huke Williams in 2369. The Amon-Re was decommissioned in 2378 and replaced by the USS Amon-Re-A, which remains under Captain Starheavens’ command.

The USS Amon-Re arrived in the Delta Quadrant via the Secu Wormhole – a gravimetrically unstable passage between the Romulan-controlled space in the Beta Quadrant, and Falcarian Space in the Delta Quadrant. In 2376, on foiling a plot to kidnapp, and possibly assasinate, Federation President Monroe, the USS Amon-Re entered the wormhole. She remained in the Delta Quadrant, alongside Starfleet forces, until 2378, when the ship was able to return to through the Deltan Wormhole in an all-to-brief moment of stability. She was decommissioned on return to Earth.

The Amon-Re was created in 2000 by Darren Gallant as an e-novel. In 2002, the ship was replaced with the Amon-Re-A, which continues to be part of the Delta Fleet.

Excelsior Class starships were not fitted with holodecks. Portable holo-projectors are available for use in one of the cargo bays on Deck 25. Due to the Amon-Re’s age (over 30 years), it is unlikely she will under go the extensive refit needed to construct a holodeck

USS Phantom

Tuesday, February 15th, 2011

The USS Phantom (NCC 71078) was designed and built by the Romulan Star Empire and named the RES Aehallh. A brand new class of ship, the Aehallh, is equipped with a unique Quantum Duality Drive. The drive utilises a gravity well, between twin Quantum Singularity cores to create a slipstream field. The duality system also affords the vessel a more stable and reliable warp field that that of normal Quantum Singularity cores.

Loosely translated from Romulan, Aehallh means Spectre, Ghost or Phantom. The crew of the USS Shadow, who captured the ship in 2378 felt this an appropriate name.

The name of the ship’s Romulan commander remains unknown, however since her capture and inclusion in the Delta Fleet she has been commanded by Captain Reena Harras.

Two new technologies of note on the Phantom aside from the Duality core are FATE and the Disrupter Cascade Generator. The FATE core is an artifical intelligence which controls the majority of on-board monitoring, making independant corrections to maintain near perfection and optimisation throughout the ships systems. This feature is necessary to ensure the delicate harmony between the twin singularity cores is not disturbed. The Phantom also has a Cascade generator, which utilises disrupter banks around the ship to create a powerful disrupter pulse, which is capable of destroying a ship, even shielded (at close range).
